Zwolle

Zwolle is the administrative centre of the Dutch province of Overijssel. It is located on the shores of the Zwarte Water and Essays rivers.

Zwolle is focused on urban tourism. The 75-m-high Peperbustoren, or Pepper Mill Tower, is the main tourist attraction in Zwolle. The Saint Michael’s Church, built in 15th century, is considered a remarkable example of Gothic architecture. At Museum de Fundatie, tourists and their travel companions will see the old pictures of the town, portraits of its notable residents and contemporary art works.

Zwolle’s historical landmark is the Saxon Gate built in 15th century.

There are a lot of cycling and segway guided tours. One can rent a bike at NS Bike Rental and tour the town on his own. Watersports that are offered for tourists include boat trips, sailing, kayaking and canoeing. Boat tours are offered at Rederij Keur. The Park de Wezenlanden is home to children’s playgrounds and barbecue facilities.

There are extant windmills on the outskirts of Zwolle where a museum complex has been established to represent how Dutch villagers lived in the 17th to 19th centuries.
