Kandy

Kandy is a capital city of Central province in Sri Lanka. The resort is situated on the shore of the Mahaweli Ganga River 115 kilometres to the northeast of Colombo. Kandy is a cultural centre of the island and it is inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Kandy is the main destination for the excursion and educational tourism. During a study tour, you will visit Temple of the Tooth, Temple of Goddess Uma Parvati and Sri Maha Bodhi Maha Viharaya.

Trekking is probably the best way to explore the nature and the life of the locals in this region. There are many interesting trekking routes around the town. The lovers of wild nature will want to go to the caves Sitakotuwa Limestone, Ash, Nitre and see Rathna waterfall.

Kandy is a known centre of arts or crafts and is famous for its skilful artisans. The tourists can buy souvenirs in such shops as Jayamali Batiks Studio, Kandy City Center and Gamage Stores.
