Popayan is a city in a Columbian department Cauca. This resort is situated on the slopes of the Puras volcano in the south of Central Cordillera.
In 1983 Popayan was seriously destructed by the earthquake, but later the locals restored the city. Popayan is a favourite place for the lovers of the excursion tourism. During an excursion tour, they will see Catedral, Iglesia de San Francisco Church and Iglesia de Santo Domingo Church. A viewing platform on Capella de Belen opens a fantastic view on the city and its suburbs.

Archaeological Park of San Agustin is situated in 2.5 kilometres from the city. It is inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The tourists will see the largest group of religious monuments and megalithic sculptures in South America stands in a wild, spectacular landscape. The Park was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The ecological tourists will want to go to Parque Nacional Puras.
