Urubamba Valley

Urubamba Valley or Sacred Valley of the Incas is situated in the Andes on the territory of the Region of Cusco not far from the Cusco administrative centre in the southeast of the Republic of Peru.

Numerous artefacts have been found in this place which makes it a popular centre of the excursion tourism. The tourists will see the ruins of Winawayna and the Temple of Ollantaytambo. Do not miss a chance to see the buildings of the city of Cuzco and the ruins of the Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu. The latter is a UNESCO site.

The Valley attracts many lovers of the event tourism who can participate in the annual Lord of Torrechayoc Festival, which takes place in the city of Urubamba.

The ecological tourists will have a possibility to visit such national parks of the region as Manu National Park and Alto Purus National Park. The tourists will definitely enjoy the beauty of the nature in Mandor Gardens in Aguas Calientes.

The wellness tourism is maintained here due to the thermal springs in Santa Teresa and Aguas Calientes. Many tourists come to Urubamba just to be outside.

In Cusco, you will find Centro Comercial El Molino shopping centre, a market and Hilo souvenir shop.

The extreme tourists can try their hand at climbing or hiking along such routes as Inca Trail and Machu Picchu Mountain Trail. If you want to get a rush of adrenaline, you can go rafting, kayaking, trekking, paragliding, rope jumping and hang-gliding.

Paca Paca, Tres Keros and El Huacatay restaurants offer the traditional cuisine of Peru.

There is no nightlife in the Valley.
