Abaco

Great Abaco Island is a large island, part of Abaco Islands on the Bahamas. It is situated in the Atlantic Ocean. The administrative centre is Marsh Harbour.

Sandy coast attracts both those who prefers to sunbathe on a beach and the fans of the extreme activities. Yachting is extremely popular here. The owners of schooners can use well-equipped stations and small cozy bays. The shallow waters at the coast are good for fishing. A barrier reef hides caves, tunnels and is popular among the divers. The active tourists can go surfing, kiting and sailing. In the central part of the resort, there is everything you may need for trekking, hiking or biking.

Exotic nature of the island makes it one of the Bahamian centres of the ecological tourism. An especially interesting place is Abaco National Park. It is known for its very rich fauna. Anyone can go yachting, snorkelling and explore the underwater fauna.

The capital city holds Junkanoo Summer Festival and it attracts many tourists.

Unfortunately, on Abaco there are no any significant historical and architectural monuments. However, the tourists can take a tour across the resort and acquaint themselves with the culture, traditions and everyday life of the natives.

Abaco Shopping Center in Marsh Harbour welcomes everyone to make purchases. If it is a nightlife you are after, in the administrative centre there are some bars and a club Vila.

Good ecological situation, sea, air and favourable climate attract the wellness tourists. They can have toning spa treatments in a wellness centre at the hotel Bahama Beach Club.

The foodies can treat themselves to seafood dishes and Bahamian delicacies in Curly Tails, oasis and Jamie’s Place.
