Cuenca is a city and a centre of Cuenca Province in Spain. It is situated in Castile-La Mancha. Cuenca is situated between two mountains. The Jucar River and the Huecar River flow through the city.
The city is divided into two parts: the old district and the new district. In Old Town of Cuenca the tourists will feel the Medieval atmosphere. They will see Plaza de Mayor, the oldest Gothic cathedral Catedral de Santa Maria and acquaint themselves with the exposition of Art Museum of Tesoro Catedrales. Do not miss a chance to walk across Historic Walled Town of Cuenca which was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1996.
Your excursion tour will be incomplete without you visiting Church of San Miguel and Magnan Watchtower.
If during your holidays you prefer to learn something new you should definitely go to Diaseano Museum and Museum of Science.
A hallmark of Cuenca is Casas Colgadas or the hanging houses of Cuenca not far from the Gothic cathedral. These houses were built on the rock right above the ravine of the river Huecar. The tourists also like to visit Mermaids House and Royal Houses.
The oldest place in the city is park Saint Julian. This is a very nice place to have a walk.
The suburbs of the city also present a great interest. The tourists will go to Cuidad Encantada Limestone Massif, will see waterfalls near the Cuervo River and the Tagus River. The ecological tourists can go hiking along the route named Ruta.
In Olea Comedor, Romera Bistrót, Asador de Antonio and Restaurante Trivio you will try the best dishes of the Spanish cuisine.
If it is a nightlife you are after, Taberna Jovi, Lolita Lounge Bar and RUTA 66 open their doors.
