Great Barrier Reef is the largest coral reef stretching for 2.500 kilometres along the north-eastern coast of Australia. It is the largest natural site on the planet and was formed by the living organisms. One can see it even from the space. Great Barrier Reef stretches from the south to the north from the Tropic of Capricorn to the Torres Strait which separates Australia from New Guinea.
This Reef was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Its territory is divided into 6 accessible zones. The strict control zone is available only for the scientists who carry out their research.
The most expensive resorts for well-to-do people are Hyman and Bedarra. The divers prefer Heron Island, Magnetic Island and Lizard Island. On the islands Dunk, Fraser, Hamilton, Brampton and Keppel the tourists can do many things: sunbathe on the beach, try diving, take an excursion tour or try their hand at water activities.
The ecological tourists will enjoy their visit to the national parks of this coral reef.
